Adapting To The New Normal
Over the last four months we’ve seen significant changes in our lives and the way people go about their daily routines. The level of disruption has been huge for some of us. It has presented numerous challenges and obstacles to work around. I have seen many examples of people adapting to the new normal using initiative and determination.
Lockdown created a major problem for my business: how to offer my face-to-face service to existing and new clients. I am not one to be defeated by a pandemic and have not stood still for a moment.
New Services
Firstly, I brought forward the launch of my new virtual dog training service, scheduled for the autumn. This was a really steep learning curve, getting the technology in place and achieving flexibility within the lessons. This new service has been a huge success and I will be continuing to offer virtual lessons into the future.
My virtual puppy training service has also been extremely popular. These sessions cover pre-puppy training too, making sure new owners are ready for when their puppy arrives. My phone has been extremely busy with those considering a puppy purchase. I have spent a lot of time warning potential owners about impulse buying a lockdown puppy.
Secondly, during lockdown I ensured my residential kennels were full at all times, bringing in a steady source of income while 1-2-1 lessons were quiet. My clients have benefitted from this availability and I have been able to intensively train many dogs over the past few months.
My experience has enabled me to diversify quickly and my reputation has ensured clients were willing to adapt to still receive the highest level of training. I will continue to develop my services as the new normal settles in. I am grateful for the loyalty of my clients and their support during this journey into the unknown.
