story of tessleymoor skye

When I started the Tessleymoor Farm, I knew that there was no point in having sheep without a Tessleymoor sheepdog. I decided to buy and train a Border Collie. After following the progress of Emma Gray, the shepherdess featured on BBC’s This Farming Life, I was interested to hear that there was a litter coming from her dog, Reiver Gray. This led me to Glynne Jones of Pentir Sheepdogs, who bred the litter with his own Graylees Cêt, producing stunning pups, including some in the rare lilac colour.

Coming from such outstanding stock, Pentir Lassie fetched a high price. In fact she set a world record price for an untrained sheepdog pup at Skipton Auction. She has top quality breeding from the best DNA tested bloodlines in the UK. I named my new Border Collie pup, Skye.

Skye The Tessleymoor Sheepdog

With such an excellent working pedigree, Skye is very interested in sheep. It’s important not to rush her training, so that she learns to work with me, rather than just following her instincts. She is such an intelligent dog and already a loyal companion to me. She is part of the foundations of the farm I am building and you can follow her training progress on my blog.
