Tess the Border Collie gets a new sheepdog working home

Life isn’t easy for many at the minute. With the ever increasing financial restraint on people and the increasing need to work more to keep a minimum standard of living, owning a dog sometimes can add to that stress.

Tess thankfully didn’t fall into that category. Tess who was originally called Treacle was bought by her original owners together with her sibling Django at the age of 8 weeks. Having never owned dogs it was certainly a baptism of fire. I always say buying siblings is a no, something that should be avoided. Only a very experienced dog owner or trainer should consider this. The biggest reason is time. You need to be able to dedicate separate time to train and walk them individually. You need them to bond with you and not each other. I see too many siblings that listen to each other and not their owners.

No matter how much time spent training, one problem was never going to stop. That was the fact that Treacle wanted to kill the cats. Work was done to try and desensitise the situation, but the moment a cat moved she wanted to kill. So the hard decision was made to find a new home. Thankfully I had the perfect home for her. Grace and Adam two of my clients who I’ve trained their working dogs for year are expanding their flock of sheep on their small holding. Adam had mentioned he’d like a Border Collie in the near future so the rest is history. Treacle now called Tess is living and enjoying life with her new owners and has already had her first Sheep Dog Training Lesson with Adam at my training facilities.

I look forward to helping Adam and Tess achieve the potential I know they both have.
