Summer Dog Training
You might have noticed I’ve been a little quieter on the blog as these are very busy months for me. The longer days and fine weather mean that there are lots of owners wanting summer dog training. I see a huge mix of dogs – all breeds, sizes, ages and behaviours. I am often out in the field training for seven or eight hours a day, in addition to looking after my residential dogs and my own pack.
Over To You
While it’s a busy time for me, it’s also a great time for all dog owners to be thinking about summer dog training. I find that lots of people contact me in the spring and summer. They have been lead walking their dogs during the winter months. When the better weather comes and they get out in the park or the fields and let their dog off the lead, they are surprised at their behaviour.
So this summer, rather than strolling for an ice-cream, take this time to invest in your dog. Focus on them and how you would like them to behave. If you haven’t done the work, don’t be surprised if they go running off to play with another dog. If you are training with me, do your homework and put the hours in. In this way you will have a well behaved dog that is a pleasure to walk, all year round.
