Saving Molly the Labrador

gundog training behavioural labrador

I met Molly 9 months ago with her previous owner. At the time she was nervous, anxious and unpredictable, which resulted in her lunging out and trying to bite. Unfortunately most of her time was spent being moved from kennel to kennel as her owner didn’t have the time for her. My initial thought at the time of meeting Molly was that she’d make a great working dog for the shooting field. Despite helping and offering advice no changes were made and Molly continued to be unpredictable.

Thankfully Molly has found a new home with Sarah and as I’ve trained Sarah’s families dogs she contacted me for help. One major concern still is her unpredictable growls, especially as there are young children in the family. Tonight’s lesson allowed me to assess how Molly is and help make changes. Molly’s drive to work is phenomenal and it’s my belief that prior to her previous owner she may have had some training with her initial owner from a puppy. Sarah is her third owner and I know together as a family they will ensure she’s a happy well trained dog.

Our intention is to train Molly as a working dog for Sarah’s mum and dad to take on shoots they attend.

I’m certainly looking forward to helping everyone achieve Molly’s potential.
