Residential Gundog Training with Ronnie and Reggie the Springer Spaniels.

Reggie the Springer Spaniel Ronnie the Springer Spaniel

Pictured here are Ronnie and Reggie the Springer Spaniels.  These two boys are siblings and have been allowed to do whatever they want due to the owners having access to acres of land.  Unfortunately, this is a common problem for dog owners who have access to land, as they allow the dogs to ‘play’ and become complacent with the training.  Ronnie and Reggie have formed a strong pack mentality with each other and mostly ignore commands given by the owners whilst out.  This has resulted in both dogs having a lack of focus, limited recall and running off chasing livestock and game.  Ronnie and Reggie have joined me for residential gundog training whereby I will be focussing on steadiness, whistle commands and recall.  Due to the strong working family history and good pedigrees of these dogs, Sheila, the owner, has realised the importance of training these dogs to their breed standard.  Having two dogs, particularly siblings, also means that more time will have to be spent training these dogs individually, something that many dog owners don’t realise. I am looking forward to training these dogs and will be posting regular updates about their progress whilst in residence.
