Rehab For A Rescue Lab

The owners of this rescue Lab have had dogs before. Rather than going for a puppy again, this time they thought a rescue would be a good idea. Finley is around one year old. In the nine weeks they have had him, he has changed their lives and not in a good way. He jumps, barges and bites. They can’t leave the house together because he is so destructive while they are out. He is also making it increasingly difficult for them to work from home.

The owners were recommended to talk to me. At first, they were resistant to following any training instructions but eventually booked in for a virtual lesson. They had tried the crate with Finley before but not used it correctly. Under my instruction, they have now tried again and it’s working well. After just one week, the dog is calmer and quieter. They can leave him in the house for short periods and he is no longer controlling their lives.

There is still further work to do with this rescue Lab; he needs rehabilitation to become the dog they want in their home. However, with practical lessons next, I am confident that Finely will make good progress.
