Keeping Up With Dog Training In Uncertain Times

training your dog through coronavirusWe are all having to make big changes to our daily routines due to the Coronavirus. Some things are easier to let go than others. One of the things you definitely shouldn’t do is to stop training your dog. Consistency is the key to success so keeping up with dog training is essential. For me it’s business as usual and I’m here to support you with a variety of methods to help you continue training.

  1. 1-2-1 training is still taking place as normal. This applies to all lessons already booked and I am also continuing to book in new lessons. For more information please see the Tessleymoor Coronavirus Update.
  2. Residential training is also continuing as usual. For some this would be an ideal time to have their dogs trained and cared for – perhaps the kids are at home or you are taking care of any elderly relative. I can take dogs for several weeks at time – contact me for more details.
  3. Phone consultations are a great way of keeping up with dog training remotely. These can be done via a call or using Skype or FaceTime. This method works well for basics like heel work and focus and also to chat through any specific training challenges you are facing. It is also an ideal way to advise on behavioural problems.

My priority at this difficult time is that your dog training doesn’t slip back or even disappear completely. In an uncertain environment, it’s good to stick with a routine. The fresh air, exercise and mental stimulation involved in spending time with your dog is a great way to get through these next few weeks.
