Gundog Training with Lola the Labrador
Lola is a yellow Labrador that came to me last year and attended 1-2-1 gundog training sessions and resided with myself for residential gundog training. Lola is owned by Felicity who initially contacted me when Lola was running off, did not listen to commands and had no focus. Felicity was clear that Lola would never work on a shoot or out in the field however we decided to channel her energy into training and stimulating her as a working dog. Lola has been bred to a high standard and therefore it would be best to provide her with the mental and physical stimulation she required to meet her breed standard.
Due to recent personal commitments Felicity has started to withdraw her attention from training with Lola. Unfortunately this has encouraged Lola to lose focus and her attention has diminished whilst off lead. After receiving a recent newsletter regarding the new developments at Tessleymoor Gundogs, Felicity became eager to start training again and to encourage Lola to becoming the well behaved dog that she used to be.
It was great to see Lola return to training today as a lively, bouncy but fun loving dog. Lola has a great desire to work and this was once again evident during the 1-2-1 gundog training session. After just half an hour into the lesson it was clear that Lola was getting back on track and was directing her energy into what she had been trained to do. The lesson was very positive and Felicity left feeling confident and enthusiastic about future training with Lola. I am looking forward to training with Felicity and Lola in the future, ensuring a well balanced and mentally stimulated working dog. I would be confident to take Lola out on a shoot as she clearly has the potential to achieve what would be required from me in the shooting field.
