Gundog Training Wisp my new Springer Spaniel.

Wisp is a 9 week old Springer Spaniel and is the latest addition to my kennels.  She will feature in many blogs that I upload as I provide regular updates on her progression and her journey towards becoming a fully trained working gundog.

Training Wisp started from the moment she arrived in my kennels last week, with the introduction of whistle commands, recall, small retrieves and heel work.  It is vital to remember the importance of foundation training when we get a new dog or puppy.  Whilst gundog training should be a fun and pleasurable experience, we need to ensure that the new dog first understands structure and boundaries as this is paramount for a happy, well behaved dog.
