Gundog Training Springer Spaniel – Tessleymoor Gundogs.

Ronnie the Springer Spaniel

You may recall from my previous posts the trials and tribulations of Sheila and her Springer Spaniels, the twins, Ronnie and Reggie.  Well it’s just over nine months now since my initial meeting with them and what a turn around I’ve seen.  We’ve trained on a regular basis, and the boys, with my guidance have excelled.

However Sheila was faced with a dilemma.  As a novice handler she suddenly had two dogs she could work individually, but not together.  She should never have been sold two brothers.  Their bond with each other was proving too strong and it became apparent that to separate them would be the best course of action.  Sheila and I discussed this at length and after due consideration she agreed with my recommendation and made the very difficult decision to let one of her dogs go.

One week on and it’s a ‘win win’ situation…Reggie is working well for his new owner, with whom I’m in contact with, and Ronnie is buzzing, as was seen in today’s gundog session.  There was some good focus work and it’s great to see the bond between the two of them growing.

Whilst Sheila is very emotional about moving Reggie on, she realises it was the right decision and that now both of her dogs will benefit, grow and be able to work to their full potential.
