Gundog Training Rossi the Young Cocker Spaniel

This young Cocker Spaniel has huge potential for the shooting field. He’s full of drive and character which is proving to be a small problem for his owner. Patience is the key to success, rushing your training only allows gaps to develop, leaving you with ongoing problems.

Todays lesson focussed on hunting and steadiness to the stop whistle. Rossi has already experienced rough shooting therefore I’ve had to rein him back to ensure he’s not free hunting. It’s important not to rush taking your dog in the shooting field, if worked to soon without the training finished you could have a dog that starts to work for itself.

Calmness and patience leads to long term reward for you and your dog.
