Gundog Training Assessment with Sadie the Cocker Spaniel.

Sadie has been attending my dog obedience classes through dog-training4u to establish some basic training and commands as a puppy.  Today was her 1st gundog lesson where I would show Don what training is required to work a dog in the shooting field.

Training any working dog isn’t the same with all dogs or breed.  I meet many people who read books, watch dvd’s / youtube and talk to fella beater / shooters, but ultimately none of them can visualise you and your dog in the field.  It’s important you seek professional advise early on to ensure the foundations laid are strong and consistent.

Sadie has a few faults which have been created by allowing her to experience to much freedom in the fields and garden.  Her attention to Don is lacking and her desire to run and play is strong.   This is nothing that can’t be trained out with time.  I am looking forward to working together over the coming months and seeing this girl progress.
