Gundog Training Assessment with Pip the Clumber Spaniel.
Pip is a 10 month old Clumber Spaniel and for those that are fortunate to own or train one, you’ll know they’re different to your normal spaniels. Full of life and mischievous energy, they’ll give you great pleasure in training. If you’re not a patient person they’ll also frustrate you as they can take time to mature and train.
Claire, Pip’s owner wants to shoot with her so it’s important she gets of to a good start with the foundation gundog training. Claire has a brother that has 3 Springer Spaniels that hang on his every word so she’s already spent time comparing, which is never a good thing. Training a dog is individual, every person and dog have a different character so we should never compare.
Today’s gundog training assessment lesson allowed me to view what training is in place and how we move forward. Claire was pleasantly surprised at what we achieve, despite herself being very nervous. All my training lessons are structured but fun, if we don’t enjoy training its a pointless exercise.
I certainly look forward to seeing Pip and Claire at further 1-2-1 gundog lessons and eventually as a member of the Tesslyemoor Gundog Club.
