Gundog Training Assessment with Denzel the Wirehaired Vizsla.

Denzel is a 2 year old Wirehaired Vizsla that today attended a 1-2-1 Gundog Training Assessment lesson.  Tony also owns a 4 year old smooth Vizsla and a 3 year old Springer Spaniel that he’s trained himself.  Both dogs are good but he wants to ensure that’s the mistakes he’s made with these two are not replicated in Denzel.

Denzel is a cracking boy with a huge personality.  The basics that Tony has trained are good and today helped to see what was required to refine their training.  One area that certainly needs work is quartering.  Denzel isn’t yet working on the whistle or taking the wind, he back casts over the ground and looses focus easily.  His retrieves though are good and with a few tweaks he’ll be a great dog in the shooting field.

Tony is conscious about Denzel’s socialisation with other dogs.  Denzel can become over excited which mainly happens when you train alone.  By introducing and working my dogs alongside Denzel he soon focused and worked well for Tony.

Denzel will be visiting me again for a 1-2-1 Gundog Lesson and then hopefully joining my Tessleymoor Gundog Club which is dedicated to providing various Gundog Training.
