Group Gundog Training, Preston, Lancashire.

Sadie the Clumber Spaniel

Despite the warm weather, today’s group gundog training class was a huge success.  We started the training by recapping on what we trained and focussed on in week 1, which included working around other dogs, steadiness and retrieving to hand.  Today we increased the level of training with particular focus on whistle work, deliverance of a dummy, and back commands.

There is a great mix of breeds within the group including Labradors, Munsterlanders, Cocker Spaniels, Clumber Spaniels and many other breeds.  Today there was a definite ‘star of the show’ which was Sadie the Clumber Spaniel.  Sadie and her owner, Chris have been working really hard and this was evidenced today as Sadie was able to deliver a dummy perfectly to hand whilst stopping on a stop whistle command on recall.  All dogs are making great progress and I am looking forward to training with everyone again next week.  If you are interested in joining any of the group gundog training sessions or a dog training class then please contact me as I have new classes starting over the next couple of weeks.
