Group Gundog Training Lesson, Preston, Lancashire.
It is that time of year again when the days are longer and many people are out training their working companions in preparation for the 2013 shooting season. Throughout the year I run various gundog training sessions covering a wide variety of training, catering for shooting people and their working companions as well as owners who just want an obedient working dog.
Starting from 1st June 2013 I will be running weekly group gundog training sessions. Sessions will start at 14:30 and will run over the course of 5 weeks. The initial course will cover all the necessary skills required from a working gundog, including: walking to heel off lead, whistle commands, steadiness to thrown dummies, recall and most importantly working amongst other dogs. The course will enable dogs and handlers to become more confident in working their dogs around other people and dogs, something that is often lacking when we train our dogs. Whilst individual training is important when building a bond and for discipline, we have to remember that shoot days are busy, with many other people and dogs around. On many occasions I have witnessed beaters, picker ups and shooting people with dogs that run in and become snappy towards other dogs as they see them as competition. This is considered as unacceptable and therefore by attending group gundog training we can ensure that your dogs are happy, obedient dogs around others.
There will also be an advanced group gundog training course starting in June/July. Further information regarding this to follow soon.
If you’re interested in attending the above mentioned group gundog training course, please email or call me.
