How Well Trained Is Your Golden Retriever?
Everyone loves a Golden Retriever. They are big and bouncy, the come bounding over with a smile on their face. They knock you over…
That’s the trouble with breeds regarded as ‘easy’ or ‘friendly’. Every dog, no matter the size or the breed, needs training. So how well trained is your Golden Retriever? Do you let it run over to people in the park and jump all over their dogs? This is just what Luna does at 16 months. She also sleeps on the furniture and controls the household. She goes to work with the owner in the van, unrestrained. There has been no Golden Retriever training in this household.
After just one conversation, we at least dealt with the transport issues. On my recommendation, the owner went straight out and bought a Trans K9 box for Luna. Having any dog unrestrained in the car is dangerous. A big breed like a Golden Retriever could kill a passenger if the vehicle has to stop suddenly and the dog would certainly be seriously injured.
Luna needs to learn some manners and that the world is not her playground. With some basic Golden Retriever training, Luna will become part of the family, not the leader of the pack.
