Why The First Weeks Of Dog Training Are So Important

I’ve seen a Cocker Spaniel puppy today that is just four months old. As a result of being over loved, this little pup is already argumentative, stubborn and controlling. Unfortunately, the owners have followed bad training advice in books and online, relying on food and positivity rather than structure and boundaries.

On the lead the dog was charging and growling. I changed to a slip lead and as I expected, the dog had an instant tantrum, with both myself and the owners.

It is so important to have consistency in these first weeks of owing your puppy. It will take a combination of virtual and practical lessons to get this puppy on track with where they should be. Don’t create a monster in your first weeks of dog training when instead, with the Tessleymoor Way, you can build a bond with your dog that you will enjoy for years to come.
