Update and a New Project on the Farm

The last two weeks have been manic. Whether it’s dealing with family illness, personal life, running a business or the start of a new project on the farm – life is certainly never boring.

With only 11 days until lambing, plans are in place ready for the fluffy new arrivals. Like everything in life there’s no certainties. Watching some of my fellow farmers its seem many lambs are arriving weeks earlier than predicted. Being my first ever time of lambing I’d be lying if I didn’t say it’s a daunting task. What I will say is that the worry will disappear when the sight of new life arrives. Like my dog training clients, I too will be asking people with experience for guidance and help should I need it. We are never too old to learn and in my opinion everyday, no matter how old we are, is a day to learn and listen.

Yesterday saw the start of a whole new project on the farm. I’ve always tried to shop local, buying as much seasonal and locally produced food as possible. So when I took over the farm, I had a dream to build a farm shop, initially on a small scale but with a view to expanding. Well, that dream has stared to grow into a reality. Utilising an old concrete block structure, the old asbestos roof was disposed of properly enabling the builders to start. Like everything I’m doing on the farm, if I’m able to up cycle I will. Over the coming weeks I will be updating my instagram with photos so please follow @tessleymoorfarm
