Renovations on the farm are continuing at a good pace. The priority at the moment is to complete the goat pen. The building we are using needed roofing to prevent water coming in. As winter draws in, keeping the goats warm and dry at night is essential. This work is nearing completion and has turned out very well.

As always, there are ups and downs in any week. The sheep rescued from a swamp last week unfortunately did not recover as we were hoping. The loss of any animal is a blow, both in terms of losing livestock and financially. It’s likely she was in lamb and that means a loss of income in the spring.

The pigs are living a great life roaming around the farm. This kind of free range environment is ideal for their growth and they are putting on weight nicely. They will produce the first meat from the farm and I am looking forward to supplying this locally. I’m also looking into learning to make my own sausages, offering a truly farm to fork experience.
