Correcting Bad Habits after a Shooting Season with Paddy the Cocker Spaniel

It was great to see Paddy the Cocker Spaniel today for what will be the start of this years gundog training programme. I’ve helped train Paddy from a pup which has gone well and was reflected in the shooting field. Like many young dogs, experience a full day on a shoot can be mind blowing so as the season progressed little imperfection start to creep in. After a few weeks off from training/shooting season Paddy is now ready to start his 2017 training.

Whilst Paddy will stop to a whistle and take direction he’s become a little self employed, especially when a shot is fired. Today’s lesson allowed me to assess his imperfection and formulate a plan for the coming months.
