Residential Training With Willow The Black Lab

Six month old Willow is a beautiful Black Lab that’s arrived to start her gundog training journey. The owners had a Labrador before but it came to them trained. Willow has been over-loved by the women in the house and this has created a nervous dog. When she arrived it was immediately highlighted that she’d be nervous with me. I explained that it was the owners that were creating the problem. I demonstrated that I could calmly open the boot and walk her away with ease.

Building Trust

Willow has settled in well in. Usually I would start training straight away with a six month old Black Lab but with Willow, I have spent time building her confidence. She needs to be able to learn to take instruction and to do this, she needs to trust me.

It’s important to remember over-loving a dog can create many behavioural problem. If we instil a good solid foundation of structure, boundaries and affection in the correct proportion, we will achieve a happy and well behaved dog.
