First British Winter for Benji The Andalusian Hound

It must be a shock to move from complete freedom in the sunshine of Majorca to a UK winter. Certainly these two dogs that I have seen recently are not happy with the change in lifestyle. Pepper the Springer Spaniel and Benji the Andalusian Hound are both 14 months old. Their life in Majorca basically involved a constantly open door so they could roam free in the garden and chase anything they saw. They were rarely walked on a lead. An Andalusian Hound is a Spanish hunting dog with a high prey drive due to a heightened sense of sight, scent and hearing. It’s no wonder then that given the opportunity, he will run for miles with no recall.

Both dogs attended a lesson so I could assess them. They have no focus or heel work, having missed out on the basics of puppy training. I have agreed to take them both for residential training and will keep you updated on their progress.
