A clients experience of beating on her 1st Game Shoot in 2013.

Last week I went out on my first shoot and what a fantastic time I had.

My neighbour, who runs it, invited me along after he’d seen me working my two Springer spaniels in my field back in the summer.  I’d explained to him that I was training my dogs with Damian at Tessleymoor Gundogs, and that my goal was to get them ready for beating at the start of the 2013 shooting season.

As the day of the shoot neared Damian stressed that I should give serious consideration as to whether it was wise to take one of my dogs along.  He didn’t feel that they were quite ready and believed that I could undo all the hard work we’d put in over the last 6 months, and set them back with their training programme.  Whilst I was desperate to take one I followed his advice and went alone. My dogs have come a long way but still need fine- tuning, as I’m sure Damian would agree, do I!

So off I went to the shoot minus a four-legged friend, and the day was great!  I learnt so much and probably wouldn’t have done if I’d got a dog in tow.  All the guys were fantastic with me, the weather was brilliant and we had a fantastic feast afterwards at my friend’s farm.  I can’t wait for the next shoot….
