Commitment Pays Off With A Lively Springer

Jackie wanted a dog but didn’t know what she was letting herself in for with Barney. This lively Springer has been a challenge. Jackie has attended training since he was young and it’s been hard work. He is defiant and controlling with high energy and drive.

The training has taken time. Consistency is key with a dog like Barney, no shades of grey, just black and white every day. It was rewarding to see him deliver a dummy perfectly to hand today. It made me smile as his trainer, seeing how far we have come. Jackie has told me if she hadn’t found me to help her, she would have rehomed him.

We have a way to go with Barney as he can still revert to his dominant ways. However, a fully committed owner like Jackie will get results and it’s great to see her sense of achievement with her dog.
