Residential Gundog Training follow up lesson with Milo the Cocker Spaniel

Residential Gundog Training cocker spaniel

It’s always great to see dogs that have come to me for residential dog training return for follow up lessons. During their residential stay I work to instil the training required to correct or enhance the behaviour of my clients’ dogs. Training programmes are tailored to the client’s individual requirements. When clients collect their dogs I ensure they know what’s required to ensure a smooth transition. This is the only way the corrected behaviour will continue.

Today’s lesson saw Mark and his daughter, 11 year old Amelia, attend a lesson following Milo’s collection last weekend. All the advice and training required this week had been followed perfectly. This was reflected in the great results they had during the lesson. Mark commented on how much calmer and well behaved Milo is in the home.

Milo is a great example of the Tessleymoor Way of training. During his residential dog training, I worked with him methodically, getting the basics right before moving on to more advanced training. The advice I gave the owners when collecting him was to follow the rules and structures I’d established in the setting of their home. Milo should spend more time in the crate so that he becomes more settled in the house. He should practice commands on the lead only. During this follow up lesson we were then able to progress to working off the lead with these same commands. This philosophy of creating a strong bond through routine, so the dog knows their boundaries, is the foundation of a great relationship with your dog. From here, you can progress to train your dog to do whatever you want.
