Gundog Puppy Training with Alfie the Cocker Spaniel

Alfie is one very cute and headstrong pup that through training is becoming an obedient and responsive dog. By following the Tessleymoor Way of training, Alfie’s owners are enjoying their time working with Alfie and seeing results.

Tonight’s lesson allowed us to recap over the foundations of basic command training. I then introduced retrieval training and delivering to hand. Initially Alfie wasn’t accommodating with delivering the dummy due to the fact he’s been chased at home when he’s stolen an item he’s not allowed. After a while using some of my techniques, he was delivering to hand and holding the dummy.

Remember, if you chase your puppy shouting at them when they have stolen something at home, they will run off. I encourage my puppies to deliver anything they hold no matter what it is, yes even horse poo, to ensure they don’t run off. This will create perfect delivery in the long run.
