Residential Gundog Training with Luke the Flatcoat Retriever.

Gundog Training with Luke the Flatcoat Retriever

Gundog Training with Luke the Flatcoat Retriever

Luke is a Flatcoat Retriever owned by Gayle.  He is now 16 months old and it is nearly 12 months since I met Luke for his first initial gundog training assessment.  Gayle has another Flatcoat Retriever called Finn who is 5 years old who I also met at the initial assessment, however over the past 12 months I have been fortunate to work with Luke on extensive gundog training plans.  Whilst Luke has developed well over the past 12 months he has experienced some difficulties, particularly with delivering a dummy to hand around other dogs, and has been inconsistent with retrieval and stop commands when doing distance or directional work.

I advised Gayle that it would be best for Luke to attend residential gundog training without Finn in order for me to provide an intense training programme that would iron out some of the problems that he was experiencing.  Gayle and her husband had a trip planned to Scotland so they left Luke with me whilst Finn got to conquer some of the Scottish hills.  Whilst in residence Luke attended every 1-2-1 training session as well as the group gundog training sessions.  This allowed him to work around all different breeds and various characters of dogs, which has paid dividends.  Luke is now able to show his true potential when out working as he can deliver dummies to hand around other people and dogs and has become more confident with distance control work.  Luke is still a young dog but has recently started to attend advanced group gundog sessions and he is certainly making Gayle very proud.  Luke is a fantastic dog with great character making it a pleasure to work with Gayle and her 2 boys on a regular basis.
