Residential Training with Purdy the Fox Red Labrador

Meet Purdy the 8 month old Labrador whom I’ve had the pleasure of training over the last few weeks.

Purdy was bought by Paul at the age of 6 months and after an initial gundog training assessment lesson he decided it would be beneficial for me to train her on an intense course to instil the foundations correctly.

Purdy is an anxious and nervous dog, indicating to me that she may have had some previous negative training. This meant time was needed to build her confidence in a positive way. At first retrieving to hand wasn’t an option but over the time I have allowed her to enjoy the retrieves thus resulting in a positive delivery. Today I decided it was time to look at retrieving game and what a great success. Purdy has thoroughly enjoyed it and I can certainly see her in the 2016 shooting field later in the year.
