Residential Gundog Training with Nell the Springer Spaniel.

Residential Gundog Training with Nell the Springer Spaniel.

Nell is a young Springer Spaniel who has experienced a tough life but has recently been re-homed to a loving and caring family who will provide her with quality of life. Nell’s new owner was unaware of Nell’s past when he first agreed to purchase her and was hoping to train Nell as a full working gundog. He booked Nell into residential gundog training with myself for a number of weeks in order for me to assess her potential, develop a training programme and begin to work with Nell on her journey to becoming a successful working dog.

It was a different picture than we expected when Nell arrived as she was submissive and would cower when anyone went near her, she was not toilet trained and appeared too scared to toilet out of her crate, resulting in her soiling herself. I remained optimistic that this was something that could be overcome but was also honest with her new owners. Nell’s new owners are very supportive of her development and are keen to start working with her.

Nell has now been with me for 2 weeks and her progress has been phenomenal. The most important thing is her confidence, which is 100% better than when she arrived. She is now fully toilet trained and will walk comfortably to heel both on and off the lead. She made further progress today, when she retrieved a ball and delivered it to hand without cowering or being submissive.

Nell has a large amount on followers on twitter who are all supportive of her and the progress that she has made recently. Her owner is pleased with her progress and is looking forward to bonding and training with her in the forthcoming weeks.
