Tessleymoor & Toplands Country Charity Event – June 15 2019

Enjoy A Great Day Out

Our annual Tessleymoor and Toplands Country Charity Event, held this year on Saturday June 15, was once again a great success. Despite the forecast, the weather was kind to us and perfect for a day out in the country. We had a lot of fun with the charity gundog scurry, which was as popular as ever. Such a mix of breeds from the smallest to a Dogue de Bordeaux took part and several owners also got involved in clambering over the bales if their dogs were a little reluctant to take part.

The entertainment and stands were excellent with hot drinks from Jonah’s Coffee and ice-cream from Brooks Gelato. This family business had a wedding to attend on Saturday but still managed to staff their brand new ice-cream cart so that we were not let down on the day. It was also great to have Goosnargh Gin with us – another superb local company.

The event continued well into the evening with live music from The Rockits, accompanied by drinks from the Old School Brewery and a BBQ.

As always, I’d like to thanks my friends, family and clients for their support in the weeks leading up to the event, for donations to the raffle and the auction, and for attending on the day. Money is still coming in but we raised around £11,000 for local branches of Heartbeat, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Headway.

June 16 2018

Our annual charity event, held this year on Saturday June 16, was once again a great success. The weather wasn’t kind but those that braved the rain had a good time at our charity gundog scurry and clay shoot. After months of planning, everything came together on the day, thanks to great team work. The entertainment and stands were excellent with hot drinks from Jonah’s Coffee and superb pizzas from Prego.

The weather brightened during the day, just in time for the charity auction. The event continued well into the evening with live music accompanied by drinks from the Old School Brewery. Thanks to the generosity of our visitors, we are pleased to announce we have raised £11,112. This will go to local branches of Heartbeat, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Headway.

Of course, an event like this is all about the country sports. My charity dog scurry was as popular as ever and was won by Michael Beardsworth with Pip the Labrador. Second place went to Graham Holden with Amber the Springer Spaniel. Many thanks to Tessleymoor sponsors Bob and Lush for providing the prizes.

The winners of the Clay Shoot competition were Tony Paley – High Gun; Darren Lakeland – Members; Gemma Smith – Women’s; Michael Beadsworth – Colts; Matthew Paley – Juniors (like father like son); Fitzgerald1 – Flush.

Plans are already under way for next year’s event, so put June 15 2019 in your diary.

Thanks to everyone who attended this great charity event. With BBQ, bar, live music, archery, trade stalls and inflatables, there was something for all the family plus of course my very popular gundog scurry and the clay shoot. We are delighted to announce that we raised £11008 for our charities, giving £2500 each to local branches of  Heartbeat, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Headway plus a donation towards the work of St Anne’s Church in Woodplumpton.

Setting up for a big event like this is never without incident and this year was no exception. In the week running up to the event we had two marquees collapse and had to hunt out replacements. On the actual day, nearby unexpected roadworks prevented some visitors from getting to us. For the many who did attend however, it was a fun packed day with lots of local businesses contributing to the enjoyment of our visitors. There was a fabulous bbq from Honeywells, the Old School Brewery laid on a gin caravan and Saxon Archers gave visitors the opportunity to try their hand with a bow and arrow. The winner of the clay shoot this year was Ross Holmes.

The gundog scurry was as popular as ever and was won by Chris Deardon with Lizzie in a time of 24 seconds, with Colin Andrew with Beau coming a close runner up with a time of 25.4 seconds. Prizes were provided by Tessleymoor sponsors Bob and Lush and the gundog scurry stand was sponsored by Bob Misell from Colbre Projects who gave a very generous donation of £250 to our charities. Huge thanks to my friend and client, Simon Eccleston, who worked tirelessly from 7am and throughout the event; also to my wife Jade & daughter Holly, for all their support. It was great to have professional photographer Brendan McGee with us this year who really captured the spirit of the day with his fantastic gundog photography. Take a look at his website to see if he caught your dog in action.

We enjoyed once again co-hosting the Toplands Clay Shoot and Tessleymoor Gundog Scurry charity event this year. Tessleymoor Gundogs joined this annual event in 2015, attracting more visitors and raising lots of money for charity with our gundog scurry. Building on this success, this year’s free day out for all the family included lots of activities, stalls and local food and drink with all proceeds going to charity. The auction and raffle were extremely popular with fantastic prizes donated by local companies including a BMW for the weekend from Bowker Ribble Valley. We were delighted to be able to raise £11 578 for this year’s charities.

The Tessleymoor Gundog Scurry

Our gundog scurry once again proved very popular. This fast paced fun event was open to any dog and owner willing to test their dog’s skills with multiple retrieves over six jumps of different heights. Winner of the under-18 category was Jack with his Labrador Lou; Sarah with her Labrador x Collie won the adult event.
